Relationship Education for Adolescent/Young Adults
The teen years are a very critical stage for healthy relationship development. As young people are given greater freedom and develop more independence, the opportunities for life-impacting mistakes are greatly increased. Related risky behaviors such as drug/alcohol use and early sexual activity can derail a young person’s future dreams and goals. The WAIT Training curriculum was developed specifically to educate, equip and inspire young people to protect their heart, body, mind and spirit. Before teachers and leaders can use the curriculum with young people, they must become trained and certified. This process protects the program’s integrity and enhances the effectiveness of teaching WAIT Training.
During WAIT Training, Young People learn about:
- personality types and improving communication
- the benefit of learning their individual love language
- the progressive steps of intimacy
- clever, confident ways to say “no” to sexual activity and other temptations
- vital information and skills for friendship, dating and compatibility
- the truth; that everybody is NOT doing it (about half of high school students are not sexually active
- how to dream and make plans for the future, and then live in the present to achieve those goals
- practical steps for forming healthy boundaries and respectful, healthy relationships
- the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual risks of sexual activity
- skills on how to return to abstinence once sexually active
- How to “decide” rather than “slide” into a relationship
